Eldorado DECA takes on Atlanta

Story by Denise Huerta

On Friday April 22, select DECA students headed to Atlanta, Georgia to compete at the ICDC national competition.

These students competed at state earlier this year and had to qualify for nationals.

Competing at nationals is a lot more competitive and intimidating. There are hundreds of schools attending the event.

It is a two day competition. The second day being the final and most competitive round.

“I really wanted to experience what it would be like, especially since I’m interested in business related topics once I’m done with high school,” said Lexi Routson.

This has been a great experience for all of the students.

“There’s a tradition that each state is given a pin and students from different states are able to trade pins with others from different states, which is really cool,” said Riley Garay.

Some of the activities on the trip include Six Flags, the Georgia Aquarium, The World of Coca Cola, and more.

The students returned on Wednesday April 27th, looking forward to next year's nationals in Orlando, Florida.
