This Friday, Eldorado hosted a Food Truck war between 4 rival food trucks, The Burger Joint, Tacbros, Kickin Chicken, and Golden Waffles. Each truck provided what you’d expect, with all of the food being prepared locally at Eldorado and served in the courtyard. The event was held for students of our culinary arts class to experience a real food service environment as well as giving them a chance to display their food to peers. Dylan said “(the tacos) are quite amazing. They’re delicious.” The competition was over who could make the most money within the time frame of 45 minutes. “I personally think the chicken place (Kickin chicken) is gonna win,” said Jacob.
In the Culinary class, this is a large assignment. It required them to display all the skills they’ve learnt so far in a practical situation. All the trucks had consistent traffic throughout the lunch period, with Golden Chicken having a line to the middle of the courtyard during the start of lunch. Drew with Kickin Chicken said “We’ve had so many orders it's crazy.” The event was so popular that the CTE building, a very popular lunch spot, was almost completely empty.
