Opinion: A spirit that makes every Thursday worth looking forward to

To end the decade, junior, Trey Robison created Bible Club alongside his friends at Eldorado. All the students who lead this club, hope for their peers to come join them every Thursday to listen to positive things about God once in their week.

“I did an internship at my church this summer and, through this, I decided that church is what gives me hope, so why not spread that same hope to Eldorado,” Robison said.

The club was not made to forcefully convert kids to Christianity, but to help them understand a religious viewpoint while having a good time with their friends.

Robison thinks that sometimes people can be turned away from church if they are forced to go with their parents. This is not because these kids don’t like the material at church but sometimes they don’t understand it. Because of this he has made it a priority to make Bible Club a place where like minded individuals can go to share viewpoints and interact with their friends who are a similar age.

This club creates a cohesive environment at Eldorado between the different types of students who normally don’t hang out, because Robison and his friends do a good job opening it up to anyone and everyone.

“When I’m done talking to the students who show up to the meetings, I get to meet all of these new people, Robison said. It’s really cool to be a part of because they become comfortable talking to me and I get to enjoy learning about their stories.”

Now that all of these students are becoming comfortable being around, Robison realizes that once he graduates in 2021 someone is going to have to take over as the person who leads the meetings. Some students have already approached Robison about talking in class to spread their word of God.

“We would like to let the underclassmen lead when they want to while we’re still here so they can get the hang of it and can eventually feel comfortable doing it on their own,” said Robison.

The ultimate goal of the club is to provide a light for those who may need it and spread positivity through God.

“The end goal is teaching people to practice positivity this way because we know that this has changed our lives, why would we not share that with other people," said Robison. By being kind you can move a mountain.”
