The Baseball Season and Their Head Coach

By Melanie Ellerd

Filthy cleats sink into the pitcher’s mound with the iconic golden eagle watching over them. Sweat drips from the player’s head sinking into the orange cap with a capital E on the front. This is Eldorado’s Baseball Team. Coaching them from the side is their head coach, who is he?

Head coach Reid Fiegel has coached at Eldorado for four years now. He wants his players to have fun and work hard. To him this might be the best season yet.

“Eldorado has become a part of my family,” Fiegel said.

He describes himself as a new era coach that is very supportive with 100% positivity all around. Fiegel’s goal for the end is to get a top 8 seed for the tournament.

“There is a lot more on your plate then to just show up” said Fiegel

With 10 seniors being on the team there are high expectations. He wants everybody to push themselves and to grow from this.

“I really enjoy all my kids. They like to work hard and push each other, it’s not a daily grind , they enjoy it,” said Fiegel.

Rowan Ellington on varsity hopes to get top 5 seed in the playoffs then to win state.

“I love the competition against other teams and the feeling I get when I succeed” said Ellington

Ellington has been playing baseball for 13 years. To get through this they need to stay confident with each other so that they can achieve their goal faster.

Another player, Seth Cawthon is ready for this season to surprise the teams that underestimate them.

“ Our hardest challenge would probably be to keep our heads in the fame no matter the score and stay focused on our goals of winning games and making it far in state”

The baseball team is ready and excited for this season to start and is ready to put the hard work in.
